by | Jan 6, 2021 | Student Housing Center

When you move into the University of Wyoming off-campus housing, you have to take on adult responsibilities. This includes making sure your rent gets paid every month. You’ll also have to pay for food, gas, cleaning supplies and anything else you need for your apartment. Once you’ve settled into your apartment, you might start thinking about getting a part-time job to pay for some of your expenses. But is this the best option for a full-time college student?

Should You Get a Part-Time Job While Living in a Student Apartment?

Ultimately, it depends on your living situation. If you’re a part-time college student, you could probably handle taking on a part-time job. You might even have time for a full-time job if you’re only taking a few classes. But if you’re a full-time student with a full workload, you should ask yourself if it’s really worth the stress. Piling a job on top of your other responsibilities might leave you feeling burned out and exhausted at the end of the semester.

Some jobs will allow you to work only a few hours a week if you’re going to college. Other jobs aren’t as lenient. If you’re thinking about getting a job, make sure you’re working for a company that’s willing to work with your schedule. You can get a job any time, but you can’t go back and redo all your classes without wasting time and money.
